Behind each Pampeano belt you will find a story of dedicated craftsmanship and an interesting history.

The name Pampeano is a Spanish word meaning “from La Pampa”, which is a province of Argentina, located in the fertile low grasslands of The Pampas. La Pampa is an important agricultural province with cattle ranching being a predominate activity.

The Argentinian farmers have long been expert equestrians so when the sport of polo was brought to the Buenos Aires province by British aristocrats in the 19th century, more and more locals began to play as the game developed and spread throughout the country.

Herein lies the origins of the polo belt. A traditional decoration, in the form of a colourful belt, was created for the local polo teams as a way of denoting which team was which and these belts were like the belts you see today.

The pampa diamond design featured on the Pampeano belts is an ancient Aztec motif carried through the generations reflecting the peaks and valleys of the longest mountain chain in the world, The Andes, which overlook the polo fields of La Pampa, Argentina.

A Pampeano belt can take up to five hours to make. They are carefully made from the finest quality products by Argentinian artisans, who measure, cut, stamp and stitch each belt by hand. The belts are cut to size and then stamped with the stitch holes, which create the pampa diamond design. Following this the belts are stamped to denote their authenticity and the Pampeano logo is also stamped on the end of the belt. The buckle is sewn into place and then the stitching to create your colourful belt begins. Luxury, wax-dipped, vibrant saddlery threads are used, which are highly durable and retain their colour, so you can enjoy your belt for years to come!

All made by hand so no two Pampeano belts are the same!
